Rhodonite is the official state mineral of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and derives it’s name from the Greek word “rhodon,” meaning rose. Often confused with Rhodochrosite, Rhodonite exhibits rosy pink and black coloration, due to trace amounts of iron and calcium and is very rarely translucent.
