Lapis Lazuli
Commonly confused as a mineral, Lapis Lazuli is actually a rock. Lapis is composed of multiple minerals, which are Lazurite, Sodalite, Pyrite and Pyroxene. Lapis has been mined for over 6000 years for ornamental purposes and jewelry. Lapis Lazuli was one of the most valued stones of the ancient Egyptians, and was used for making pigments. Cleopatra favored the deep blue pigment for her iconic blue eyeshadow.
