Moonstone is a variety of feldspar mineral. When cut en cabochon it exhibits “adularescence” or “Schiller Effect,” which gives flashes of color to the white stone. Moonstone’s have been used in jewelry by Ancient Greeks and Romans who associated the stones color with the light of the moon.
